KEROWAGI CULTURAL SHOW CERTIFICATE PRESENTATION ALONG WITH THE LAUNCHING OF DISTRICT FIVE-YEAR DEVELOPMENT PLAN

The Kerowagi Cultural Show has officially received a certificate of recognition, marking a significant step in preserving the district’s rich cultural heritage and promoting tourism. The Member for Kerowagi Open, Hon. Francis Kikin Sinue announced this during a gathering with his people.

Hon. Francis Kikin Sinue expresses his views by saying development isn’t just about building better infrastructure; it’s also about changing people’s attitudes and creating a culture of self-reliance within communities. When people adopt a mindset of responsibility, cooperation, and working together, they become more involved in making improvements. This shift in culture helps create a stronger sense of ownership and unity, which is key to making lasting changes, including improving law and order.

He said, “Kerowagi has proven that we can successfully organize cultural shows without the need for extra security costs. This is a testament to the unity and responsibility of our people. It shows that when we come together, we can achieve great things without relying on external support. Our culture is strong, and we can manage and protect it.”

The Executive Director of the National Cultural Commission, Mr. Steven Enomb Kilanda expressed his gratitude to the Kerowagi District for taking the initiative to register and host a major cultural event, helping to keep their culture vibrant and strong.

He said, “The National Cultural Commission’s role is to preserve, promote, and safeguard the arts and culture across the country, and here in Kerowagi, the culture is still very much alive. Chimbu is unique in two ways: one is its beautiful headdress, and the other is its prominent artists, who are naturally talented in Papua New Guinea. The people of Chimbu should be proud of this and take

ownership of it.”

A certificate of recognition was presented to the Member of Kerowagi. Hon Francis Kikin Suine and the show committee as a token of support from the National Cultural Commission for the cultural show. This certificate symbolizes the commission’s commitment to continuing its support for the Kerowagi District Cultural Show in the years ahead.

In addition, Hon. Timothy Masiu, the Minister for Information and Communication Technology, officially launched the Kerowagi District’s Five-Year Development Plan and its new website.

The event was also attended by important people like the Managing Director of Small and Medium Enterprises Corporation (SMEC), Mr. Petrus Rald, along with representatives of the Department of Commerce, the Department of Planning & Monitoring, the Department of Education, and the National Development Bank. This launch is a big step for Kerowagi District as it moves forward with its development plans and uses new technology to help improve the area.

The launch was witnessed by a large crowd of Kerowagi residents, signaling a strong step forward in the district’s development and cultural preservation initiatives.
